Source Heterophylly Falsestarwort Root is the dried tuber ofPseudostellaria heterophylla (Miq.) Pax ex Pax et Hoffm. (Fam. Caryophyllaceae).

Usage and Dosage
10 – 30g is used in decoction for oral use.
Notes It is incompatible with Lilu (Rhizoma et Radix Veratri). It is less effective at nourishing the spleen and lungs than Pilose Asiabell root, and also less effective at clearing heatiness than Western ginseng.
Recommended for children.
It is shaped like a slender spindle or twig, 2 – 8cm long, 2 – 6cm in diameter. There is an extremely short stem or bud marks remaining on the top. The lower part is tapered like a tail. The surface is yellow white to earth yellow, smooth, with irregular longitudinal wrinkles, crosswise hollows and fibrous root marks. The broken surface is even, white or yellowish white, keratin-like, while the dried one is white and powdery. It is brittle. It is light in nature. The flavour is slightly sweet.

Wuhuaguo Pork Soup with Pseudostarwort Root
Hydrates and soothes the body tissues, benefits the digestive system and moistens the lungs.
Pseudostarwort 20g, wuhuaguo 50g, honey dates 2, lean pork 400g, young ginger 3 pieces.
1.Soak the herbs in plain water. Rinse the lean meat but do not slice.
2.Place the various ingredients in a pot with 2500ml of water (approximately 10 bowls) and bring to a rolling boil.
3.After the soup has boiled, simmer on a low fire for 2 hours. Add salt to taste and serve.
Pseudostarwort and Hawthorn Congee
Builds the spleen, alleviates dampness and lowers blood pressure. It is recommended to those who suffer weakness of qi and retention of dampness associated with high blood pressure.
Pseudostarwort 10g, hawthorn fruit 10g, rice 100g.
1.Rinse the pseudostarwort and remove excess growth from the herb. Rinse the hawthorn fruit, remove the pit and cut into pieces.
2.Rinse the rice and place inside a rice cooker. Add the hawthorn slices and pseudostarwort. add 800ml of water and cook normally.
