Source Rehmannia Root (processed) is the processed Radix Rehmanniae.

Nourishesyin, tonifies blood and replenishes essence
Deficiency ofyin of the liver and the kidney marked by aching and limpness of the loins and knees, consumptive fever; anaemia, night sweating and seminal emission; menstrual disorder, abnormal uterine bleeding; dizziness, premature greying of beard and hair.

Usage and Dosage
10 – 20g or up to 30g is used in decoction for oral use, or in pills or powder. The product stir-baked till it looks like charcoal is used to relieve metrorrhagia and metrostaxis.

Notes Contraindicated in patient with excessive phlegm due toqi-stagnation, fullness in the epigastric region, poor appetite and loose stools.

It is shaped like an irregular block or a sheet. It varies in thickness. The surface is deep black and glossy with wrinkles. It is soft and tough. The broken surface is deep black, glossy and strongly sticky. The flavour is sweet, with no foul odour.

Keep in well-ventilated and dry place. Protect it from mould and moths. The fresh one may be buried in sandy soil to prevent it from freezing.  Description of Quality Herb
Good Shudihuang is big in size, heavy, soft and glossy, with sweet flavour and a deep black broken surface.

Rehmannia Congee

Regulates the blood and reinforces the skin, moistens and nourishes the liver and kidneys, and promotes black hair and strong teeth. When taken over a long period, it can slow down the ageing process.

Processed rehmannia root 20 pieces, wolfberry 20 pieces, dried chrysanthemum flower 10g, chicken breast 100g, japonica rice 60g, salt, ginger, leeks to taste.

1.Chop the chicken breast finely. Boil the 3 herbs twice to obtain the essence.
2.Wash the japónica rice, add the herbal essence and chopped chicken breast and cook over a slow fire. When done, add the seasonings and cook for a short while longer before serving.

Duck Soup with Cordyceps and Rehmannia

This soup is recommended for symptoms of thirst and dry cough. It moistens the kidneys and nourishes the lungs, and can correct deficiencies of yin in the lungs. It also alleviates dry cough, thirst and dryness in the mouth.

Cordyceps 10g, processed rehmannia root 40g, red dates (pits removed) 6, one whole duck (approximately 850g).

1.Rinse the cordyceps, rehmannia and red dates. Clean and dress the duck.
2.Stuff the duck with the herbs and red dates and place in a stewpot with an adequate amount of water.
3.Cover the pot and stew for 3 hours. Season to taste and serve.
