ACTION
- Astringes the intestines to stop diarrhoea
For chronic diarrhoea due to spleen deficiency, or diarrhoea and dysentery related to deficiency-cold. It is often used with herbs for replenishing qi to invigorate the spleen and warm yang to arrest diarrhoea. - Stops bleeding with bowel movement
- Promotes tissue regeneration and heals wounds
Treats deficiency of chong and ren meridians with metrorrhagia, metrostaxis and leukorrhagia.
Usage and Dosage
10–30 g is used in decoction for oral use and wrapped with cloth when decocting. Also used in pills and powder. The powder can be applied externally.
Notes
Contraindicated in the case with stagnation of dampness and heat, and dysentery. Used with caution for pregnant women. It is incompatible with Cortex Cinnamomi.
