Source Clove Flower Bud is the flower bud of Eugenia caryophyliata Thunb., (Fam. Myrtaceae.)

Producing Areas Tanzania, Malaysia and Indonesia; Hainan, Guangdong as well as other provinces in China.

Channels Spleen, Stomach, Lung, Kidney

ACTION

  • Warms the middle jiao and lowers the adverse rising energy
    For stomach-cold syndrome with vomiting, hiccup, poor appetite and loose stool.
  • Treats diarrhoea due to stomach cold
  • Warms the kidney and strengthens yang
    For impotence due to yang-deficiency. Also for weakness of the back and knees, with aversion to cold.

Usage and Dosage
1-3 g is used in decoction for oral use. Also for external use.

Note
Contraindicated in the patient with sthenic heat syndrome.
It is incompatible with Yujin (Radix Curcuma Lonqa L.)

Storage
The fragrance and natural oil are easily lost.
Keep in a cool and dry place.

The good one is big and stout, reddish brown in colour, oily, strongly aromatic, not broken, and sinks in water.
