Dandelion

Source Dandelion is the dried herb of Taraxacum mongolicum Hand.-Mazz, Taraxacum sinicum Kitag. or several other species of the same genus (Fam. Compositae).
Producing Areas Hebei, Shandong and Henan, etc.
Properties Bitter, Sweet, Cold
Channels Liver, Stomach

Action
•Eliminates heat and toxins in the blood
For any type of heat disorder, especially heat in the liver channel with red and swollen eyes.
•Removes abscesses and reduces nodules
For boils, sores, and furuncles especially if they are firm and hard as in mastitis and intestinal abscesses.
•Resolves dampness
For jaundice, acute urinary tract infections, and hepatitis from damp-heat.
•Promotes lactation
Treats insufficient milk secretion due to heat.

Usage and Dosage
10 – 30g is used in decoction for oral use. It can be pounded for external use.

Notes Contraindicated for surgical syndromes due to yin-cold and patients without asthenic fire. Excessive use may cause diarrhoea.



Storage
Keep in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and moths.

The good one is greyish green with many leaves, integrated root and without impurities.
