Common Andrographis Herb


Source Common Andrographis Herb is the dried aerial part of Andrographitis Paniculata (Burm. f.) Nees (Fam. Acanthaceae).
Producing Areas Cultivated in South, East and Northwest China.
Properties Bitter, Cold
Channels Liver, Lung, Small Intestines, Stomach

Action
•Clears heat and toxins
For heat and fire in the lungs and throat manifesting as asthma or abscesses. Also for urinary tract infections and toxic skin disorders.
•Dries dampness
For acute infections of the gastrointestinal tract or diarrhoea. Also used as an ointment to treat eczema caused by damp-heat.

Usage and Dosage
3 – 6g is decocted for oral use. Suitable amount of the pounded is used externally.

Notes Use with caution for patients with asthenic cold of the spleen and stomach.
The decoction is bitter and may cause vomiting.

Keep in a dry place.
