Reed, Bamboo and Water Chestnut Drink

Clears heat and purges fire. It is recommended for preventing buildup of excess heat in the body and can also relieve sore throat and dryness of the mouth associated with hot weather, sticky and yellow phlegm, dryness of the skin and discoloration of urine.

Dried reed rhizome 30 – 60g, water chestnuts 200g, fresh sugarcane 500g, pears 2.

1.Rinse the sugarcane, water chestnuts and pears. Pound the sugarcane without peeling it. Remove the stems of the water chestnuts and the stem and core of the pears, and dice both.
2.Place the reed rhizome and sugarcane in a pot with an adequate amount of water, and simmer over a low fire for 60 minutes.
3.Add the diced water chestnut and pear, and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes.
4.Add rock sugar to taste and serve.
