Calms the mind and soothes irritability. It is recommended for those experiencing tension and stuffiness of the chest with an elevated pulse rate and insomnia, or who find themselves irritable and easily agitated.
Fresh rehmannia root 20g, lily bulb 30g (or 100 -150g of the fresh), lean pork 100g, salt to taste.
1.Rinse the various ingredients. Slice the pork.
2.Steep the herbal ingredients in a pot of cold water for 30 minutes, then add the sliced pork, ginger and shallots.
3.Bring to a rolling boil over high heat before lowering the heat and simmering for another 45 minutes.
4.Add salt and serve.
Tips for a Healthy Life
1.If the fresh lily bulb is used, it may be added when the soup is almost done, and cooked for 3 – 5 minutes.
2.Vegetarians can substitute 200g of groundnuts or soya beans for pork in the recipe.
