Source Turmeric Rhizome is the dried rhizome of Curcuma longa L., (Fam. Zingiberaceae.)

Producing Areas Mainly produced in the areas of Sichuan, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Yunnan; Taiwan.

ACTION

  • Promotes blood circulation to remove blood stasis; promotes circulation of vital energy and alleviates pain
    Treats stagnation of blood, pain in the chest and abdomen, hypochondria, dysmenorrhea, amenia and skin infection.
  • Expels wind and relieves arthralgia
    Treats rheumatism, especially at the shoulders and arms, and periomarthritis.

Usage and Dosage
3-10 g is used in decoction for oral use.

The herb has a hard mass, is golden-yellow on the broken surface, and has a strong fragrance.

Professional Tips
If the rhizome is oval, irregularly-shaped and bent, the herb is called “Chandu Jianghuang”. This is superior in quality.
If the rhizome is shaped like an irregular cylinder or spindle, it is called “Changxing Jianghuang”.
