Szechuan Lovage Rhizome and Angelica Fish Head Soup

Effects
Promotes blood circulation and invigorates the brain.
It is used to relieve giddiness, severe intermittent headaches and related ailments.

Ingredients
Szechuan lovage rhizome 3–9 g, Dahurian angelica root 3–9 g, gastrodia tuber 10 g, red dates 5 (outer covering removed), fish head 1 (bigheaded carp), ginger 3 slices, salt to taste.

Preparation

  1. Rinse the herbs and soak in cold water for half an hour.
  2. Clean and scale the fish head. Blanch it briefly in boiling water. Alternatively, stir-fry the fish head to remove the fishy smell.
  3. Place the herbs, raw ginger and fish head in a pot, add an adequate amount of boiling water and stew for 3 hours.
  4. Add salt to taste and serve.

Tips for a Healthy Life
Not suitable for those with heaty body constitution, or those who suffer from headaches caused by liver-heat and wind-heat. Use only with physician’s prescription.
