Source Ningpo Yam Rhizoma is the dried Rhizome of Dioscorea nipponica Mak., (Fam. Dioscoreaceae.)

Producing Areas Northeast, North and Central China, including provinces of Gansu, Shaanxi and Sichuan, etc.

Properties Bitter, Slightly Cold

  • Promotes blood circulation and dredges the channels
    For angina pectofis and trauma.
  • Expels wind and dampness
    For rheumatism and numbness of the extremities.
  • Eliminates phlegm, and relieves cough and dyspnea
  • Clears away toxic materials and relieves swelling
    For skin infection, conjunctivitis and goitre.

Usage and Dosage
10-15 g is used in decoction for oral use, or soaked in spirit for drinking.
The pounded fresh herb is used for external application.

Description of Quality Herb
The good one is yellowish white, hard and stout.

Keep in a ventilated and dry place.
