Properties Spicy, Very Hot

Channels Kidney, Spleen, Heart, Liver

ACTION

  • Warms and invigorates spleen-yang and kidney-yang
    For insufficiency of kidney-yang with soreness and coldness of the loins and legs, impotence, emission, enuresis or frequent micturition, dysuria and edema; for kidney hypofunction with dyspnea; for deficiency of spleen-yang and kidney-yang with cold pain of the abdomen, poor appetite, loose stools, or lienteric diarrhoea; for flaming-up of deficiency-fire with toothache.
  • Expels cold and alleviates pain
    For lumbago of cold-dampness type, colic of cold type, dysmenorrhea and precordial pain due to stagnation of qi or blood stasis
  • Promotes the circulation of vital energy and blood
    For insufficiency of vital energy and blood. For dysmenorrhea and amenorrhea.

Usage and Dosage
1-4.5 g is used in decoction for oral use, decocted later or soaked In boiled water for taking.
1-2 g of the powder Is taken after it is mixed with water.

Note
It is incompatible with Chi Shizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum).
Contraindicated for the patient with ‘flame-up’ fire due to yin-deficiency, sthenic heat syndrome and excessive blood-heat.
Use with caution In pregnant women.


Storage
Keep in a cool place and protect from wind, light, pressure and moisture. Keep it sealed to withstand high temperature and humid season.

The good one is heavy, not broken, with fine outer skin, thick flesh, purple and oily core, strong fragrance, sweet and spicy flavour, with little dregs when chewed.
