Source Turmeric Tuber is the dried root tuber of Curcuma aromatica Salisb, C: kwangsiensis S. G. Lee et C. F. Liang, C: zedoria Rose. (Fam. Zingiberaceae.)

ACTION
Moves qi and blood, relieves pain, used especially for pain due to qi and blood stasis including hypochondriac pain, irregular menses, masses (especially in abdomen and hypochondriac region), traumatic injuries and dysmenorrhea. Also for liver cirrhosis, enlarged liver and spleen.

  • Clears heat and cools blood
    For bleeding due to heat in the blood including epistaxis, hematemesis, hematuria, and epistaxis during menses.
  • Clears heat in the heart and opens orifices
    For shen disturbances associated with dampness, phlegm and heat in the heart with symptoms like disorientation, epilepsy, mania, anxiety, agitation, seizures, and derangement.
    Treats jaundice, and benefits the gall bladder.
    Treats damp-heat jaundice and gallstones.

Usage and Dosage
3-10 g is used in decoction for oral use;
2-5 g of powder is taken.

Note
Use with caution for pregnant women. It is incompatible with cloves.

Storage
Keep in a cool and dry place. Protect from moths.
