Lotus Rhizome Node and Chinese Yam Soup with Milkvetch Root


Effects
Promotes blood circulation and secretion of body fluids, relieves blood stasis, quenches thirst, nourishes the kidneys, qi and spleen and arrests seminal emissions. It is used to treat lochia, dizziness and deficiency of qi.

Ingredients
Lotus node 10–15 g, lotus seed (with piths removed) 10–15 g, milkvetch root 10 g, lean pork 100 g, Chinese yam 15–20 g, asiabell root 10–15g.

Preparation

  1. Rinse the lotus node, lotus seed, milkvetch root, Chinese yam and asiabell root. Steep in cold water for 30–60 minutes.
  2. Rinse, slice and blanch the pork. Place all the ingredients in a pot and add an adequate amount of water.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat, then lower the heat and simmer for 2 hours till the meat is tender. Season to taste and serve.
